Stair towers and site stairs for building sites in Wegberg
Anton Muckel Gerüstbau GmbH builds scaffold stair towers and escape stairs. A stair tower moves crews and materials briskly to every level, keeps ladders out of the traffic and stays up for as long as the site needs it.

When a ladder is no longer enough
On a small job the ladder is fine. The moment several trades need to be upstairs at once, the arithmetic changes.
A ladder carries one person at a time, and both hands belong to the ladder. Tools, boards, buckets and rolls therefore travel one by one or by hoist, and anyone who forgets something upstairs pays for the climb twice.
A stair tower turns that around. It carries traffic in both directions, it lets material go up under the arm, it opens onto every scaffold level, and in an emergency it is a second way down. That is exactly what we build stair towers and escape stairs for.
-
Both directions
People go up and come down at the same time, with nobody waiting at the foot of a ladder.
-
Material in hand
Keep your hands free and tools and small parts go up in a single trip.
-
A second way out
An escape stair remains the route outside when the usual access is out of service.

Register of services
The stair tower is one card from this register. What the company otherwise builds and hires out stands beside it, because most sites need more than one line of it.
- Stairs
Stair tower systems
The walkable tower beside or inside the scaffold, with landings and handrails, as access for crews and materials.
- Stairs
Escape stairs
A secured second way down for when the usual stairwell of a building is temporarily unavailable.
- Scaffold
Façade scaffolding
The working scaffold in front of the façade, lift by lift up to the eaves.
- Scaffold
Birdcage scaffolding
Area scaffolding indoors, for ceilings, halls and tall rooms.
- Scaffold
Suspended scaffolding
Scaffolds hung from above where there is no room to stand one up from below.
- Scaffold
Mobile towers
Rolling working platforms for work that moves along as it goes.
- Scaffold
Modular scaffolding
The system scaffold for awkward shapes, extensions and difficult plans.
- Scaffold
Heavy duty scaffolding
Load bearing structures for heavy loads, where a standard scaffold no longer carries.
- Scaffold
Industrial scaffolding
Scaffolds in running plants, on installations, vessels and hall structures.
- Special
Special structures
Structures that do not come off the shelf and are calculated and built for one building.
- Special
Temporary roofing
Weather protection over the site and the structure, so that work carries on.
- Special
Stage building
Platforms, stands and structures for events.

Hoists for hire
Construction hoists with and without passenger carriage, for material and for the ride up.

You know what has to go up
Tell us the structure, the height and how long it should stand. We look at the spot and say what it takes.
How to tell a sound installation
A stair tower is quickly explained and just as quickly set wrong. These are the points we check as we build and at every handover.
-
Founded, not just placed
The tower needs firm level ground and load spreading beneath it. What starts on soft ground settles unevenly later.
-
A landing on every level
Landings sit between the flights so that the climb is broken and material can be set down.
-
Handrails on both sides
Handrail, knee rail and toe board belong on every flight and every landing, not only on the outer face.
-
Tied to the structure
The tower is secured against overturning and wind load and tied where the tie will actually hold.
-
An opening on every floor
Every landing gives a secured way onto the scaffold lift or into the building, with no step across and no detour.
-
Inspected and tagged
The installation is handed over inspected and marked, so that everyone on site knows what they are stepping onto.
Where a stair tower earns its keep
Six situations in which the climb is worth planning before the first lift of scaffold goes up.
-
New build
While the stairwell is not yet walkable, the tower is the way into the upper floors.
-
Work in occupied buildings
When people live in the house being worked on, the tower keeps site traffic out of the hallway.
-
Roof and gable
For roofers, plumbers and carpenters the tower runs to just below the working level.
-
Industry and halls
On plants and hall structures the tower opens up levels that would otherwise be ladder work.
-
Stage and stands
With platforms and stands the climb is part of the structure, not the last thing fitted.
-
Escape route during works
If the existing stairwell falls away for a while, an escape stair takes its place.
Your situation is not on the list
Then describe it to us. The climb is planned for your structure anyway and never pulled from a catalogue.
From the call to the strike
Five steps that run the same way on every installation, whether it rises two storeys or eight.
-
Enquiry
You give us the structure, the height, the levels you want and how long it should stand. Much of it settles on the phone.
-
Survey on site
We look at the access, the ground, the tie points and the openings into the floors.
-
Quotation
You receive the schedule for delivery, erection, standing time and dismantling, calculated for this structure.
-
Erection and handover
The tower is stood, tied, inspected and handed over to you with its tag in place.
-
Standing time and strike
The installation stays as long as it is needed. Then we dismantle it and clear the ground.

Questions that come up
What we are asked most often on the phone.
- A tower erected from scaffold components with stair flights, landings and handrails. It stands beside or inside a scaffold and opens up the working levels so that crews and materials can walk them.
- The build is similar, the purpose differs. An escape stair secures the way down when the existing stairwell of a building cannot be used for a time. We build both.
- Yes, where the ground and the ties allow it. More often it is tied into a scaffold structure, because it then gains an opening on every lift.
- As long as you need it. The standing time is agreed beforehand and can be extended if the site runs on.
- Yes. Façade, birdcage, modular and heavy duty scaffolding and special structures are part of the business, as are temporary roofing and stage building. The full register is further up this page.
- Call us or write through the form on this page. We look at the spot, take the measurements and put the necessary work together.
